Laois County Council have confirmed that the new dog park at the Triogue Linear Park will be completed by the first week of November.
The announcement came from Mr Wes Wilkinson, Senior Executive Engineer at Portlaoise Municipal District’s Roads Office, who was responding to Labour councillor Marie Tuohy.
It came at the October meeting of the Portlaoise Municipal District this week, with Cllr Tuohy requesting that the Council to provide an update on both the dog park and the area of reflection in the People’s Park.
Mr Wilkinson said” “The installation of the Dog Park at the Triogue Linear Park will be completed in approximately two weeks time.
“Works to the boundary wall between Pairc an Pobail and the adjoining property were recently completed.
“It is intended to commence development of the garden of reflection at Pairc an Pobail by the end of Q1 of 2025.”
Cllr Tuohy also asked that the Council cut back the tree and foliage covering public lighting in Kilminchy.
Mr James Dowling Senior Executive Engineer said the Council’s Lighting Department would “arrange for the foilage or similar that may be interfering with the public light to be removed.”
Lastly, Cllr Tuohy asked for the removal of a tree on the green in Lower Beladd “which is at risk of falling and is close to the footpath and the road.”
Mr Wilkinson responded, saying District staff will examine the tree and make arragments to remove it as required.
