The Heath Golf Club recently held a Charity Weekend of golf, with the proceeds going towards Laois Hospice.
The format of the competition was an Open Champagne Scramble across two days followed by an Open Singles Stableford on the third day.
The competitions were well supported by both members and visitors.
The winners of the Scramble competition were George Fennell, John G Conroy and Seamus McGrath, who finished with 95 points.
In second place were Roland Bradley, Donal Booth and John MacNamara, just two points back on 93.
The best of the ladies were Siobhan Flanagan, Tina Flanagan and Caroline Fahey, who scored 91 points.
The best mixed team were the combination of Tom Fitzpatrick, Ber Fitzpatrick and David Dawson, who racked up 89 points.
The winners of the 18-hole Singles Stableford then on Sunday were:
- 1st – Siobhan Flanagan (22) 44 pts
- 2nd – Andrew Lambe (11) 40 pts C/B
- 3rd – John Cushen (20) 40 pts C/B
- 4th – Therese Ryan (19) 40 pts
- 5th – Colin Buggy (13) 39 pts C/B
- 6th – Dominic Hartnett (21) 39 pts C/B
A cheque for €2500 was presented to Mary Finlay, Honorary Treasurer of Laois Hospice.
In her acceptance speech Mary stated that the Hospice provided a valuable service to all Laois families and the funds raised were much appreciated.
The presentation was made by HGC Captains Theresa Boyle and Charlie Gallagher.
