This October Bank Holiday weekend, a very popular Pumpkin Patch event will take place in the GAA grounds in Clonad.
This will be the fifth staging of the Pumpkin Patch and organisers are gearing up for a great event.
It all began back in 2019 and although it was absent in 2020, the Pumpkin Patch has been present ever since.
Hundreds flocked to Clonad over the last few years and a similar crowd are expected this time.
There are some changes though as instead of a two day event, the Pumpkin Patch will take place on Sunday, October 27 only from 9.30am to 7pm.
While previously the only charge was for whatever pumpkins you took away, there is now an entry fee per family.
The organisers are offering pumpkin picking in the patch, a haunted maze, train ride, story trail, treats and eats, dress a scarecrow and much more.
A spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to invite you to Laois Pumpkin Patch 2024, where fun and community come together.
“There will be prizes for best dressed. While we have all the usual attractions such as pumpkin carving, maze, scarecrow dress up and onsite cafe with homemade baked goods.
“We are also putting a call out for any musicians who want to play to get in touch with us.
“This year we are introducing some exciting new features. To help improve your experience and cover increasing costs; there is an entry fee of €10 per family.
“Entry fee includes free access to our new features plus all of your patch favorites.
“Pumpkins are charged separately, pay as you pick. Location is Clonad GAA grounds, Ballycarnan, Clonad Portlaoise. R32 X4O3.
“As always, we thank you for your continued support.”
Meanwhile, Clonad GAA are also starting their own Split The Pot fundraiser.
Tickets available online here or can be bought in Browne’s Animal Feeds or D Kids.
The club also have plans for a fundraising table quiz/social night in Kavanagh’s Portlaoise on November 15.
Further details on that will be provided on that in due course.
