More than €300,000 secured to regenerate Mountrath town centre

Mountrath Town Team have been working hard over the past year to secure funding to regenerate Mountrath Town Centre.

In the past 12 months, in collaboration with Laois County Council, they have secured funding for a range of projects.

€250,0000 under the Town & Village Renewal Scheme will see improvements to the Town Square.

This includes enhanced public lighting in the Town Centre, improved landscaping and signage along the River Walk and Patrick Street and enhancements to the Farmers Market.

Town & Village Project Development Measure was granted €50,000 to re-design the Town Square.

€6,8000 has gone to the Community Climate Action Fund for the provision of a bicycle repair station, rack and shelter in the center of Mountrath.

While €10,000 in respect of a design project to explore ways to enhance the White Horse River as an amenity in the town.

This funded was awarded by the Irish Architecture Foundation.

“We are committed to implementing these schemes over the course of the next year. People living and visiting Mountrath will start to see real Improvements in our Town Centre.”

Consultation Clinics will be held in Mountrath over the course of the next year to get your feedback and input into the above schemes.
