Floodlights, astro pitches and upgrades galore as Laois allocated record €6.2 million Sports Capital Grant

Floodlights

€6.2 million has been allocated for Laois clubs and organisations, under the Sports Capital and Equipment Grant scheme.

This is the highest ever sum of money that has been dedicated to Laois in the history of the scheme.

Nationally, €250 million has been allocated across the country – a 50% increase on the figure from 2022.

Since 1998, more than 13,000 projects have benefited from sports capital funding, bringing the total allocations in that time to approximately €1.15 billion.

It is generally accepted that the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme has transformed the sporting landscape of Ireland with improvements in the quality and quantity of sporting facilities in virtually every village, town and city.

Laois clubs and organisations across the county are set to benefit from the announcement today.

Funding has been pledged for projects like floodlights, astro pitches, ball walls, disabled toilets and equipment.
