Two Laois camogie players selected on Soaring Stars team of the year

Two Laois players have been named on the Camogie Association’s Soaring Stars team of the year.

Clodagh Tynan has been selected at centre back and Aimee Collier at full forward.

St Brigid’s Tynan was sensational in defence also year while Camross’s Collier was one of the highest scoring forwards in the country.

Unlike in hurling and Ladies football, the Camogie Association picks a team comprising of players from Intermediate and Premier Junior grades of the game.

So the fact that Tynan and Collier, who played in Premier Junior, have made the 15 is extremely impressive.

It was a positive year for Laois but a frustrating one at the same they.

They reached the National League final but lost out to Armagh by a single point.

The same margin saw them lose out to Wexford then in the Leinster Intermediate final.

While there was similar heartbreak in the All-Ireland final against Tipperary in Croke Park.

All-Ireland Intermediate champions Cork lead the way on this year’s Soaring Star team with a total of six players recognised for their tremendous achievements this season.

Cork had a hard-fought battle with runners-up Kilkenny in Croke Park, with an injury time winning point earning them the ultimate victory.

Kilkenny, who were runners-up in the All-Ireland Intermediate championship, will have much to celebrate after four players earned a place on this year’s team.

While Tipperary, after last year’s heartbreaking defeat to Clare in the 2023 All-Ireland Premier Junior final, finally earned the right to climb the steps of the Hogan Stand to collect the Kathleen Mills Cup this year.

They are represented by one deserving player on this year’s 2024 PwC Camogie Soaring Stars team.
