Gardai are appealing to the public for assistance after a taxi driver was assaulted in Laois.
The incident occurred on the Conoboro Road in Rathdowney at around 9pm last night – Monday September 23.
It is understood that the taxi driver sustained serious facial injuries following the attack.
Gardai have confirmed that the driver, aged in his early 60s, was taken to Portlaoise Hospital.
He was treated for his injuries and was subsequently released.
Gardai in Abbeyleix are leading the investigation into the incident.
Investigating officers say they’re following ‘a definite line of inquiry’, but are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
