Portarlington FIDE are set to host a charity chess tournament in aid of Pieta.
The event will be held in SOLAS Eco Garden Centre on Sunday, October 13, beginning at 10.15am.
The games will be 15 minutes each plus 10 second increment per move – seven round FIDE rated rapid tournament format.
Players do not need to record their moves.
Those who wish to enter can do so by clicking here.
Pieta provides therapy for those in suicidal distress, people engaging in self-harm, or those who have been bereaved by suicide, free of charge.
They provide 24/7 support to those in need of their services and can be reached at 1800 247 247.
This is an extremely worthy cause and a novel way to raise money.
