Fontstown, Athy, Kildare / Abbeyleix, Laois
Lousia Gowing, (Harvey) Boleylittle, Fontstown, Athy and late of Cromogue, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois passed away peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff at Cloverlodge Nursing Home, Athy. Predeceased by her husband Frank. Sadly, missed by her loving daughter Muriel, sister–in–law Lily, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Reposing at the Thompson’s Funeral Home, Chapel Hill, Mt. Hawkins, Athy (R14 NX80) on Monday 23rd September from 5pm to 7pm. Removal on Tuesday afternoon, 24th September, by Thompson’s Funeral Directors to arrive at St. John’s Church, Fontstown, Athy for Funeral Service at 2.30pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.
Joseph Murphy
3 Mountain View, Portlaoise, Laois
The passing has occurred of Joseph Murphy. Beloved husband of Paula and much loved father of Andrew, Fergal, and Jordan. Deeply regretted by his loving family; daughters in law Shannon, Toni and Emma, his eleven grandchildren, brothers Dean, Martin and Kevin, sisters Kathleen, Mary, Susan, Yvonne and Paula, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.
Reposing at his home on Saturday, 21st September, and Sunday, 22nd September. Removal at 11am on Monday. 23rd September, to arrive at St. Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for 12 noon Requiem Mass, followed by intenment in the New Cemetery, Emo, Co. Laois. Mary Keeshan (née McAdam)
Aghaboe, Laois / Ballybay, Monaghan
Mary Keeshan (née McAdam), Aghaboe, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, and late of Drumar, Co. Monaghan. Died 19th September 2024, unexpectedly at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents George and Nan McAdam, Drumar, Monaghan. Sadly missed by her loving husband Padraig, son Aidan, daughter Annette. Deeply regretted by her husband, son, daughter, grandchildren Donnchadh, Conán, Oisín and Caiden, daughter-in-law Fiona, son-in-law Daniel, sister Teresa, brothers George, Pauric and Philip, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at her home in Aghaboe (eircode R32K5C7) on Saturday evening, September 21st, from 2 p.m, concluding with Rosary at 8.p.m. Removal on Sunday morning, September 22nd, to St. Canice’s Church Clough, for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. followed by Burial in Aghaboe Cemetery.
Ann O’Keeffe (née Greene)
Cooraclare Village, Kilrush, Clare / Ballyadams, Laois / Athy, Kildare
Predeceased by her loving husband Arthur. Deeply regretted by her loving brother James, sisters Bridie (McDonald), Margaret (Galvin) and Christina (Keogh), nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, relatives and many friends.
Reposing at her brother James’ residence in Ballyadams (R14 HW10) on Thursday, 19th September, from 7pm – 9pm and on Friday, 20th September, from 3pm until the conclusion of the Rosary at 7.30pm. Requiem Mass at 11am on Saturday morning in St. Senan’s Church, Cooraclare, Kilrush. Burial afterwards in Kilmacduane Cemetery, Cooraclare.
Maureen O’Callaghan (née Coogan)
Main Street, Stradbally, Laois
Maureen passed away peacefully in her 98 year in Droimnín Nursing Home, Stradbally in the company of her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Andy.
Sadly missed by her daughter Mary, son Jim, grandchildren John, Michael, John and Darragh, great grandchildren Emma, Ryan, Andrew and Margo, son in law David, daughter in law Maeve, nieces Geraldine and Helen and by her neighbours and friends.
Reposing on Friday evening in the Oratory in Droimnín Nursing Home, Stradbally from 6pm to 8pm with recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Removal Saturday morning by Whelehan Funeral Directors at 10.30am to arrive at the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally (R32 WRH9) for 11am Requiem Mass, which can be viewed on the church webcam.
Interment to follow in Oakvale Cemetery.
John Paul McGrath
Arconagh, Naas, Kildare / Ballinakill, Laois
Formerly of Ballinakill, Co. Laois.
Peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Son of the late Nicholas and Mary, brother of the late Tom and Marian. Sadly missed by his loving wife Margaret, sons Andrew (and his partner Ana), Brian (and his partner Jodie) and Neal, brothers and sisters, brothers and sisters in law, mother in law Peg, nieces and nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at his family home from 5pm on Friday concluding at 7pm. Removal to the Church of Our Lady and St. David, Naas on Saturday morning arriving for 10am Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St Brigids Cemetery, Kilcullen.

Lena (Helena) Kennedy
Goatstown, Dublin / Waterford / Laois
The peaceful death has occurred of Lena (Helena) Kennedy of Goatstown, Dublin (formerly of Waterford and Portlaoise) on the 18th of September, 2024 with her loving family by her side. Predeceased by her beloved husband Seamus, sisters Maura and Kathleen and darling niece Claire. Loving, kind and generous Mum of Helen and Damien, and adoring Nanny of Cara, Seán and Shane. She will be very sadly missed and always remembered with much love and affection by her family, brother Anthony, nieces and nephew, in-laws, Helen’s partner Rory, friends and neighbours.

Damien Doheny . Liogard, Portlaoise and formerly Castletown Co. Laois. 17th September 2024 Peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his mother Ellen and brother Declan. Dearly loved husband to his heartbroken wife Edel. Loving son of Joe. Brother to Margurite and Joe. Deeply regretted by his loving family, sster in law Josephine, brother in law Adrian, mother in law Sheila and father in law Tony Curran, nephews and nieces Oisin, Liam, Brian, Elle and Sarah, relatives, neighbours and friends. And all his work colleagues in Tesco.
Reposing at Keegans Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6.30 pm, until 8 pm. With rosary at 7.30 pm. Requiem mass at 12 noon on Saturday in SS Peter and Paul’s Church. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to the Cuisle Centre.
