‘Rest easy Rob, your club, family and friends will never forget you’ – Beautiful tribute to the late Robbie Moore

Robbie Moore Laois

There was a dark cloud of sadness over Stradbally last weekend as one of its much loved sons was laid to rest.

Only aged in his early 40s, Robbie Moore passed away last Thursday having battled with sickness over the past couple of years.

A hugely popular member of the community, Robbie was immersed in local life.

He was a large part of Stradbally Town soccer club and a successful underage player with Stradbally GAA where he won underage championship medals with a fine group of players.

A massive crowd of mourners came to Robbie’s funeral which demonstrated the high esteem in which he was held.

Stephen Buggy, secretary of Stradbally Town AFC, said that although everyone is heartbroken following Robbie’s passing, they all carry fond memories of him.

He said: “We gave a wonderful send off on Sunday, for a wonderful man.

“On behalf of Stradbally Town AFC – thank you to every one of our members, past and present, who walked Robbie to his resting place.

“A special mention to Jonathan O’Toole and John Paul Cushen who just galvanised in the last few days what it means to be part of a club – they made sure whatever the club could do, was done.

“Even though Robbie’s passing leaves us all heartbroken, every one of us has our own memories that we can all cherish.

“And our club, Robbie’s club, will never forget one of our very best.

“He was a class act on and off the pitch and if we had players now with even a quarter of the attitude Robbie had, we would be in some shape.

“I am thinking of Robbie’s family and friends at this extremely sad time.

“Rest easy Rob, your club, family and friends will never forget you.”

May Robbie Rest in Peace.
