Rathdowney are through to the Laois Shopping Centre JFC ‘B’ semi finals following victory over Portarlington this evening.
PJ Rafter’s charges have had to take the long route to their stage after finishing runners up in their group.
They lost in their final group game to Portlaoise and had to play a preliminary quarter final against Clonaslee-St Manman’s two weeks ago.
They won that comfortably but had a bit more of a battle on their hands this time.
They led 1-5 to 1-4 at half time in the Centre of Excellence but kicked on well to win.
Another goal followed in the second half as they won 2-12 to 1-4 in the end.
Rathdowney now progress to the semi finals where they will face Stradbally while Portlaoise take on Rosenallis in the other game.
Those semi finals are fixed for Thursday, September 24.
