Silverware up for grabs as Rathdowney-Errill and The Harps clash in JHC ‘C’ final

Rathdowney-Errill v The Harps
Laois JHC ‘C’ Final in the Centre of Excellence at 7.15pm

The second piece of adult hurling championship silverware is up for grabs this year as Rathdowney-Errill and The Harps meet tonight.

Clough-Ballacolla defeated Borris-Kilcotton for Junior B glory two weeks ago.

And now it is time for the Junior C final as the fourth strings of both clubs go head to head.

Unusually for this type of competition, both of these teams actually started it in the same group.

Rathdowney-Errill topped it after defeating The Harps by 2-15 to 1-12 in Round 2.

That game was played in mid-July and probably has little relevance to what will happen this evening.

Both sides defeated Clough-Ballacolla and Trumera which meant they emerged from the group.

The Harps defeated Clonad 1-18 to 2-10 in one quarter final with Rathdowney-Errill running out 6-10 to 2-12 winners over Mountmellick in another.

In the semi finals, The Harps went up against Clonaslee-St Manman’s in an extremely tight affair.

In the end, a goal from sub Tadhg O’Sullivan helped them to a 1-13 to 2-8 win.

It was far more comfortable for Rathdowney-Errill who were 3-15 to 3-7 winners over Camross.

The Harps won this competition in 2022 when they defeated Park-Ratheniska/Timahoe after extra time.

Oisin Conroy, Shane Brophy, Alan O’Connell, Tom Ryan, Alan Guilfoyle, Damien Houlihan and Padraig Walsh all played that day and will be hoping to collect a second medal.

Brian Bowe, Brian Meehan, Darragh Ryan and Ray Kelly have all been excellent for Rathdowney-Errill so far and they may just have enough.
