Wednesday brought heavy showers across Laois but the forecast is for a dramatic improvement in our weather.
Within days, conditions will change dramatically with temperatures to rise to 25 degrees, but rain is not far away.
Weather maps shown that an ‘Indian Summer’ will reach the island of Ireland in the next couple of days – this is a term used to describe a period of unseasonably warm and dry weather during autumn.
Met Eireann has announced: “Warm and humid conditions will sweep across Ireland this weekend, coupled with good sunny spells.”
The humid conditions will begin on Thursday with temperatures to reach 20 degrees in locations across Ireland and to rise to 25 degrees over the weekend.
It is expected to have some heavy showers of rainfall in between the weekend mainly to occur in the east and south of the country.
In greater detail the meteorological service said: “It looks set to become mostly cloudy across the eastern half of the country on Thursday with the chance of rain at times in Leinster and east Munster.
“Current indications suggest it will hold dry further west with good sunny spells, especially in Atlantic coastal areas.
“Maximum temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees in moderate to fresh northerly winds.
“There is a chance of further rain or drizzle in parts of the east and south on Thursday night but it will be largely dry elsewhere.
“Areas of mist forming in light to moderate northwest winds. Lowest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.”
