Laois GAA have announced that the selection committee have proposed the appointment of a new senior hurling manager.
A statement released by Laois GAA this evening confirmed that Darren Gleeson has been put forward.
The Tipperary native was in charge of Antrim last season.
Laois GAA said: “The Laois GAA Executive Committee is pleased to announce our recommendation and formal proposal of Tipperary man, Darren Gleeson, for the position of the new Laois Senior Hurling Manager.
“Subject to ratification by Club Delegates at the upcoming County Committee Meeting.”
As a player, Darren Gleeson represented Tipperary from 2008 to 2017 as a goalkeeper.
He won the All-Ireland in 2010 and 2016 before retiring from inter-county hurling in 2017.
Gleeson began managing Antrim in 2020 and proved an instant success.
They won the 2020 National Hurling League Division 2A title when they overcame Kerry in the final by 2-23 to 2-20.
Antrim went on to win the 2020 Joe McDonagh Cup after a 0-22 to 1-17 win over Kerry at Croke Park.
Antrim were relegated in 2021 but won Joe McDonagh again in 2022.
Gleeson managed to help them retain their senior status in 2023 and again this year before stepping down.
No details have been released as yet on a potential backroom team.
