Electric Picnic wrapped up for another year after a wonderful weekend of music and arts in the forests and fields of Stradbally on Sunday.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the festival, Noah Kahan kicked things off as the Friday night headliner – after which he declared Ireland his ‘second home’!
Saturday night saw the incomparable Calvin Harris blast out banger after banger, drawing Picnickers in their droves to the Main Stage.
As some 75,000 festival-goers enjoyed the final day of the festival on Sunday, The Wolfe Tones took to the Main Stage, returning to Electric Picnic after their record-breaking performance in Electric Arena in 2023.
Other highlights on Sunday included CMAT, Damien Dempsey, Peggy Gou and Raye.
Hannah Laing closed out the Terminus Stage while Hermitage Green gave a rousing sendoff to Rankin’s Wood.
The Timahoe Men’s Choir also stole the show with performances at Hazelwood and Trailer Park.
The final act on the Main Stage saw Kylie Minogue come all the way to Ireland from Australia for the first time since 1990.
Speaking to gathered press on Sunday afternoon, Festival Director Melvin Benn said he expects there will be a demand for an expansion of capacity next year.
He said: “I’ll certainly talk to the council about whether there’s room for a bit more if there’s demand, I think there will be demand.
“But for the moment, I’m happy with where we are in that sense of it. I think the people that are here will have enjoyed it.
“I doubt very many people will be saying they’re not going to enjoy it, and not many people, won’t want to be back next year. So I think the demand will be there.”
Mr Benn said Kneecap’s performance was a standout moment for him this weekend.
He said: “Their trajectory is definitely a good one at the moment.
“One of the highlights of the weekend, and I don’t think anybody would have seen that 18 months ago, it has actually been remarkable.
“They played Glastonbury. They’re playing lots of the UK festivals, getting great reaction wherever they’re playing, and I’m sure, probably in America as well, their trajectory is good. I’m sure at some point we’ll see them on a main stage here.”
The Irish summer also surpassed expectations with dry weather every day and plenty of sunshine to finish off the weekend on a high.
