The group stage of the Laois Shopping Centre Junior ‘B’ and ‘C’ championship concluded tonight.
In Junior B, a spot in the semi final was up for grabs as Rathdowney and Portlaoise clashed in Rathleague.
Rathdowney led 0-4 to 0-3 at half time but the second half produced seven goals.
Portlaoise managed four of those and ran out 4-7 to 3-5 winners to top the group.
That secures them a semi final place against Rosenallis in late September.
Rathdowney are still alive but their route to the semi final has become far more complicated.
They now head for a preliminary quarter final against Clonaslee-St Manman’s in two weeks.
The winner of that plays Portarlington in the quarter final with the victor from all of that eventually playing Stradbally.

In the JFC ‘C’, the last group game was concluded and now all knock out places are known.
Rosenallis defeated Stradbally by 0-11 to 1-6 to seal second spot
The home side played with the wind in the first half and led 0-10 to 0-4 at the break.
Alan Delaney gave Stradbally hope with a goal late in the second half but Rosenallis held on.
They now advance to the preliminary quarter final where they will be away to Kilcotton.
