194 Whitney Place, Graiguecullen, Carlow/Graiguecullen, Laois
James (Jim) Mulhall of 194 Whitney Place, Governey Park, Graiguecullen, Carlow, passed away peacefully, in his 91st year, on July 21st ,2024 surrounded by his loving family, in the care of the empathetic, kind and sincere team at the Surgical Medical ward, St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.
Also, cared for in his later years, by the caring team at Beechwood Nursing Home, Leighlinbridge, Carlow.
Pre-deceased by his loving wife Mary (Moll) Mulhall, brother Tom and sister Annie.
Cherished dearly by his sons Martin, Colin and Donal and his daughter Majella. He will be sadly missed by his daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and brother Johnny, brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Reposing at Carpenter Bros Funeral Home, Graiguecullen, (Eiorcode R93 ET80) Carlow from 4pm on Tuesday, July 23rd, concluding with Prayers at 8pm that evening. Removal on Wednesday at 10.45am to St. Clare’s Church, Graiguecullen arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Sleaty New Cemetery, Carlow.
Liam Kelly
Newtown, Cullohill, Laois
It is with great sadness that the Kelly family announces the passing of Liam Kelly, late of Jetstar Way, Middlesex, London and formerly of Newtown Cullohill, Co. Laois. Predeceased by his parents William and Catherine and his brothers Doney and Thomas. Deeply regretted by his sister Nancy (Thompson) and his nieces and nephews.
Reposing at St Tighearnach’s Church, Cullohill, Co. Laois (R32 EV76) on Monday, the 22nd July 2024, from 6pm concluding with recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Requiem Mass on Tuesday, 23rd July, at 11am in St. Tighearnach’s Church with interment immediately afterwards in Durrow Cemetery (R32 CK11).
The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care provided to Liam during his time in Garside House Nursing Home, Regency Street, London.
As Liam’s family and friends gather to bid their final farewell they take comfort in the knowledge that he will always be remembered with love and respect.
Sadie Coughlan (née Nallen)
Portlaoise, Laois, R32E8NW/Banagher, Offaly
The death has occurred of Sadie Coughlan (nee Nallen), St. Ruadhan’s, Colliers Lane, Kilminchy, Portlaoise and late of Banahger, Co. Offaly. Peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her husband Peter and daughter in law Christine, and son in law Johnny. Dearly loved mother to Thomas, Marie, Cyriline, Edward, Gabrielle, Breda, Frances, John and Linda.
Sister to Thomas, Gerry, Gabo, Rita, Judith and Michael. Cherished grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Deeply regretted by her loving family, brothers in law, sisters in law, sons in law, daughters in law, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Reposing at her family home (R32 E8NW) from 4 pm on Friday with rosary at 8 pm. Removal on Saturday morning at 11 am to arrive at St. Peter and Paul’s Church for 12 noon mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Ellen (Nellie) Thompson
Parnell St, Mountmellick, Laois
Thompson Ellen (Nellie) July 15, 2024 of Parnell St, Mountmellick, County Laois, peacefully in her 92nd year and in the kind and attentive care of staff at St Vincent’s Community Nursing Unit, Mountmellick.
Deeply missed by her sons, Desmond and John, her daughter, Sylvia, grandchildren, Oscar, Celia, Lara and Ralph, Kaitlin, Beulah and Juliette, cousin, Jane, daughter-in-law, Amanda, son-in-law, Des, nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends.
Predeceased by her husband, Cecil in 2014. Funeral service in St Paul’s Church, Mountmellick at 2.30pm on Sunday, July 21.
