Thompson Ellen (Nellie) July 15, 2024 of Parnell St, Mountmellick, County Laois, peacefully in her 92th year and in the kind and attentive care of staff at St Vincent’s Community Nursing Unit, Mountmellick.

Deeply missed by her sons, Desmond and John, her daughter, Sylvia, grandchildren, Oscar, Celia, Lara and Ralph, Kaitlin, Beulah and Juliette, cousin, Jane, daughter-in-law, Amanda, son-in-law, Des, nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends.

Predeceased by her husband, Cecil in 2014. Funeral service in St Paul’s Church, Mountmellick at 2.30pm on Sunday, July 21.

Michael Carroll
Swan Road, Durrow, Laois/Timahoe, Laois

Michael Carroll, Swan Road, Durrow and formerly Kyle, Timahoe, unexpectedly but peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise.

Predeceased by his daughter Lulu, sons Martin and Micheál, daughter-in-law Denise, sister Mary and brother Tommy.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Angela, daughters Emer, Angie and Bríd, sons Damien, Fergal and Enda, sisters Brid (Ramsbottom) and Marie Goretti (Bergin), daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Reposing in Durrow Funeral Home Chapel Street, Durrow (R32E163) on Wednesday July 17th from 4pm concluding with Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning at 11am to St. Michael’s Church Timahoe (R32X880) for 12 noon Requiem Mass followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

James (Jim) Cash
Churchfields Heights, Castletown, Laois

The death has occurred of James (Jim) Cash, Churchfields Heights, Castletown, Co. Laois, peacefully on 15th July 2024 surrounded by his loving wife Anne and their family at Kilminchy Lodge Nursing Home, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

Sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife Anne, their seven daughters, two sons, grandchildren, sons-in-law, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, sons-in-law, sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends, he will be sadly missed also by his best friend and brother Nedser.

Jim will repose in St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath on Thursday, 18th July 2024, from 5.30pm to 7pm for family and friends. Reception prayers at 7pm. Requiem Mass will take place at 10am on Friday, 19th July 2024, in St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath. Interment to follow in Ss Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and carers at Kilminchy Lodge Nursing Home, Portlaoise, for the excellent care they gave Jim.

Reposing at her residence (R32 X2F8) today, Wednesday, July 17th, from 4pm to 7pm. Requiem mass on Thursday, July 18th, at 11am in St Edmund’s Church, Castletown. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Mary Carroll (nee Cuddy), Main St. Borrisoleigh, formerly Roundwood, Mountrath. July 15th Mary passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Alice and her sister Sheila. Sadly missed by her daughters Alice (Hayes), Kathryn (Cullen), Denise and Helen (Dunne), sons Michael and Sean, grandchildren Rachel, Diarmuid, Daire, Jack, Cloda, K.J., Molly, Eva and Ivan, sisters Esther and Geraldine, brothers Sean and Stephen, sons-in-law Pat, Graham and Ken, daughter-in-law Aine, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at Kennedy’s Funeral Home Borrisoleigh (E41 VX81) on Wednesday July 17th from 5pm to 7pm. Removal to the Sacred Heart Church Borrisoleigh on Thursday for requiem Mass at 11am, followed by interment in Ileigh cemetery.

Niall (Cornelius) Dunne
Beechfield and formerly of Cill Sileach, Ballyfin Rd., Portlaoise, Laois

Niall (Cornelius) Dunne. (Fondly known to his workmates as The Big Fridge). Peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the care of the wonderful staff of St. James’s Hospital.

Beloved husband of Mary, and devoted father of Shane, Darragh, Neala and Eoghain. Niall was a cherished grandfather to Ella, Lorna, Odhran, Moya, Laoise, Hugh, Brian, Conor and Fiadh.

Dear brother to Eamonn and is now united with his late brothers Tony, Camillus and Declan. He will be deeply missed by his daughters-in-law Aiveen, Eithne and Aoife, son-in-law Frank, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, friends and colleagues from the Prison Service.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home, Portlaoise on Wednesday (July 17th) from 5pm to 8pm with rosary at 7pm. Removal from his home in Beechfield on Thursday, to arrive at SS.Peter & Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for 2pm Requiem Mass.

House private on Thursday Morning, please. Interment afterwards in SS.Peter & Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise. Funeral may be streamed live on the Portlaoise Parish webcam.

In lieu of flowers, Niall requested that bright colours be worn to celebrate his vibrant spirit and joyful life. Donations, if desired, to The Cuisle Center.

It is with great sadness that the Kelly family announces that Liam Kelly formerly of Cullohill has passed peacefully after a short illness on the 1st of July 2024 in London. Funeral arrangements to be announced at a later date.

Elizabeth (Lilly) Kinsella (née Walsh)
Ballinlough, Ballyroan, Laois

Lilly passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Lilly was the beloved wife of John, loving mother of Marie and Ray, adored granny to Ethan, Luke, Sage and Beau and mother-in-law of Aidan and Ciara.

Dearly loved sister of Mary and Anthony Costello, Kathleen and Pat Ramsbottom, Ann Dignam, Paddy and Jackie Walsh, Tommy and Kathleen Walsh, Jim and Adrienne Walsh, Bridie and Ted Wall, Liam and Sheila Kinsella, Tom and Jim Kinsella.

Reposing at her home at Ballinlough (R32DX36) on Thursday 18th July from 2pm and concluding at 7pm with Rosary.

Requiem Mass Friday 19th at 12pm in St.Patrick’s Church, Ballyroan followed by burial in St.Patrick’s Cemetery afterwards.

The family would like to request in lieu of flowers, that donations can be made to the Irish Cancer Society.

Peacefully surrounded by his loving family while in the tender care of the staff of the Emo Court Ward at the Regional Hospital Portlaoise.

Predeceased by his parents Mick and Lil and brother Michael. Deeply regretted by his loving wife Dolores, sisters Liz and Cathy, brothers Tommy and Eddie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnephew, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Maher’s Chapel of Rest Portarlington (eircode R32 X5XV) on Tuesday evening from 6pm with Rosary at 8pm.

Removal from his residence on Wednesday morning at 11:10am (travelling via St Michael’s Park and Foxcroft Street) arriving St Michael’s Church Portarlington for Requiem Mass at 12 noon.

Funeral afterwards to St Michael’s Cemetery Portarlington.

David (Davy) Tobin

David (Davy) Tobin, St. Fintan’s Terrace, Mountrath, Co. Laois. Died 13th July 2024 (unexpectedly). Predeceased by his mother, father and brothers. Sadly missed by his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his brother Paul and Doreen’s residence, Woodbrook, Mountrath (eircode R32Y897), on Tuesday afternoon (16th July) from 2.0’clock, concluding with Rosary at 8.0’clock.

Removal on Wednesday morning (17th July) to St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath, for Requiem Mass at 10.0’clock, followed by Burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

Died peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Betty Blewitt.

Formerly of Wallsend, UK, and Graceful Flowers, Main St., Portlaoise.

Deeply regretted by her sister Jackie Chadkirk, and sadly missed by her niece, Angela, her extended family, relatives, good friends and neighbours.

Grace’s funeral will arrive to SS.Peter & Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for 12 Noon Requiem Mass on Thursday next (July 18th), which may be streamed live on the Portlaoise Parish webcam.

Cremation will follow at Newlands Cross Crematorium at 2pm.

Elizabeth (Liz) Kennedy (nee Cummins), 1 Slieve Bloom Park, Clonaslee, Co. Laois and formerly of Inch, Borris, Co. Carlow. Passed away on the 13th of July 2024, suddenly but peacefully at the Midlands, Regional, Hospital, Tullamore, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Martin and her two infant sons.

Beloved mother of Liz, Jim and Martin.

Liz will be sadly missed by her heartbroken children, her daughters-in-law Mary and Lorrie, her 9 adoring grandchildren Katelyn, Tiffany, Dylan, Michelle, Tara, Amy, Clodiagh, Riagain and Cliodhna, her nephew James, and her niece Anne McCusker, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at the Heritage Centre, Main St, Clonaslee, on Tuesday from 3pm with Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11am in St. Manman’s Church, Clonaslee, with burial afterwards in St. Manman’s Cemetery, Clonaslee.
