The Mountmellick Heritage and Arts Festival took place over the weekend, with a series of events running from Friday, July 12, to Sunday 14.
The event was supported by Creative Ireland Laois and showcased local talent from the town.
On Friday, the Balcony Cinema showed a remastered video from 1995 of the art installation and Famine Commemoration Walk.
Later that evening in The Druid, Mick Creagh presented his one-man show followed by an open mic night.
Saturday was the busiest day of the weekend, starting with a Neurodiversity Wall Art Mural at Supervalu.
The town’s Methodist Church hosted an art exhibition as well as a lecture with Dr Tapasya Narang from DCU.
There was also an exhibition in the Old Schoolhouse showcasing the flora and fauna of the Slieve Bloom mountains.
The day finished a series of folk and trad sessions by local artists in pubs all across Mountmellick.
The Slieve Bloom exhibition continued on Sunday, with the festival drawing to a close where it started – at the Balcony Cinema – with a presentation of Mountmellick Miscellany.
