The local community group Comrades of Cuisle have presented a check for over €20,000 for the Laois Cuisle Centre.
Comrades of Cuisle united to raise funds at a social fundraising event in Doogue’s Bar, Raheen.
The Cuisle Cancer Support Centre offers emotional support to individuals affected by cancer, including their caregivers, from diagnosis through their journey with cancer.
This compassionate support is provided in a confidential, professional, and non-judgmental setting.
The centre is recognised for its essential services to the county and beyond.
The goal of this initiative was to empower the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre to assist men, women, and children impacted by cancer.
The centre depends on the ongoing generosity of the public and corporate donations to deliver their services at no cost.
The annual operating expenses are around €250,000, mainly funded through community fundraising efforts.
The event featured live music by Solitaire and an auction with items such as All Ireland Tickets, signed jerseys from
Munster and Leinster Rugby, and hotel stays.
Additionally, two raffles were conducted: one for all entry tickets sold, with the first prize being a 43” Plasma TV sponsored by Telfords Portlaoise Mountrath, won by Helen Doocy; and another for hampers, vouchers, and sponsored gifts.
In total, €20,262 was raised and the cheque was presented to a Board director of Cuisle Liam McEvoy at Doogue’s Bar this week.
Comrades of Cuisle wishes to express gratitude to all the sponsors of gifts, hampers, and vouchers, as well as all the
donations received during the event, highlighting the remarkable effort from the community.
