The Old Fort Festival is taking place across in Portlaoise at present with the action getting underway on Thursday night.

Festival newcomers The Tumbling Paddies were the headline act and drew a huge crowd.

George Murphy provided support and he set the tone for an epic weekend ahead.

While Portlaoise band Coolboy were a late addition to the bill and went down a treat.

Friday saw the return of crowd favorites The Whistlin’ Donkeys – and they did not disappoint.

The action continues today, Saturday, where an Oasis tribute by ‘Live Forever’ and a performance by local favorites Pogueology will ensure a night of non-stop entertainment and sing-along classics.

While Sunday, June 30, promises to end the festival on a high note with the sensational Smash Hits taking center stage.

It was also the first time that the event was staged at the purpose built outdoor venue in Portlaoise.

Photographer Alf Harvey was there on the opening two nights and captured some great images.
