Abbeyleix House and Farm, one of the most historic estates in Ireland, opened to families and foodies across the country this past weekend for its annual Family Day.
The proceeds from all ticket sales, vendor fees and sales from the Abbeyleix House and Farm Kitchen Pantry went directly to charity.
The charities chosen for 2024 were Abbeyleix and District Lions Club, Laois Offaly Families for Autism, and Order of Malta.
Craft vendors lined the beautiful Stable Yard as families enjoyed train rides, face-painters, and even spectacular air show.
One of the groups involved there the Laois Hunt Pony Club.
They are a branch of the Irish Pony Club, based is in Stradbally Hall where the club do most of their training and competitions.
The Pony Club specialise in show jumping and eventing, and demonstrated their talents in the Abbeyleix sunshine.
“We were delighted to be given the opportunity to bring some of our members to wonderful Abbeyleix House and Farm to showcase our club with some fun pairs show jumping,” the club said.
“A special word of thanks to Barry for transporting the fences to and from Stradbally and Yvonne for building the course and helping our riders during the day.
“To everyone else, a big thank you for all your help and for making it a huge success.
“It was great to see the great friendships between our members and their families.
“Well done to Molly and Annabelle for winning the inaugural pairs competition and to our youngest competitor Lola.”
