On Wednesday last, the 6th class pupils of Ratheniska NS finished off a busy week and said goodbye to their school for the last time.
They had a beautiful Graduation mass on Monday in Oughaval Woods at the mass rock with Father Adriano de Oliveira.
On Tuesday, they had their graduation cake with teacher Brendan Conway.
On Wednesday, they were presented with their certificates and gifts from current Laois County Footballers and Tailteann cup finalists Kevin Swayne and Simon Fingleton.
Park-Ratheniska clubman Simon spoke to the pupils and told them ‘to embrace secondary school, be themselves and to enjoy it as it all goes by very fast’
The defender also encouraged them to keep playing sports.
The parents organised a video montage of all the pupils and there was a slideshow of the kind words that they shared about each other along with who they reckoned was the most likely to become – President, Politician, Youtube sensation, footballer and more.
A lovely day was had and the pupils were treated to hot food sponsored by the parents Association and the gifts, decorations and treats sponsored by the local Foroige club following a table quiz in May.
The parents wish all the pupils well as they head off to their new secondary schools in September.
