There is a global movement brewing in a Laois town, with news of a world-wide homecoming planned for next year.
2025 will see the return of the popular Boglands Festival, Mountmellick’s national celebration.
Festival organisers, Mountmellick Central Hub, have announced the event will be a homecoming for Mountmellick people from all across the globe.
“We invite one and all home for Mountmellick’s Homecoming 2025 for all sons and daughters of Mountmellick around the world,” organisers said.
“Join with us for the largest Festival we have ever hosted – a national celebration like no other in our hometown.”
Boglands Festival was originally postponed due to Covid, which caused the first event to be a virtual celebration.
In 2022, Boglands Festival took to the streets of Mountmellick, bringing a blend of culture, music, and arts to the town’s St Patrick’s weekend celebrations.
For the past two years, however, there has been no parade or festival in the town on Saint Patrick’s Day.
Mountmellick Central Hub say that is will change next year, promising that Boglands Festival 2025 will be “the biggest national celebration ever hosted in the Midlands.”
The festival will take place on St Patrick’s weekend in March 2025 on Sunday 16 and Monday 17.
Organisers say there will be “two days jam-packed with music , arts, culture and everything in between; and of course a welcome like no other from the small town with the big heart.
“Together we will celebrate like never before and we invite one and all to be part of the celebration.”
