All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie: Nine-goal Laois move top of the group as they crush Mayo

Laois 9-15 Mayo 1-2
All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship Round 3

Laois have moved top of Group 2 of the All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship following an emphatic victory over Mayo.

Rob Jones and Pat Collier’s team were 37 point winners in an extremely one sided affair in Castlebar.

The win, coupled with Cavan’s victory over Roscommon, means that Laois are now top of the group on nine points.

They host Roscommon in their first group game next week and if they avoid defeat they will top the group and progress to the semi finals.

The game began with Andrea Scully and Lillian Keane trading points before Laois struck the lead.

Tara Lowry and Grainne Delaney pointed before Aisling O’Dea struck for the first of their goals.

Mayo replied with their only goal of the game through Emer Delaney and Keane added a second point but they did not score again for the remainder of the game.

Laois finished the half with goals from Emer Hassett, Kirsten Keenan and Ellen Conroy before a Hassett point left them 4-6 to 1-2 ahead at half time.

And they really turned it on in the second half to power to victory.

Kirsten Keenan began it with her second goal and she would complete her hat-trick before full time too.

Grainne Delaney slotted three more points with Hassett, Andrea Scully, Grainne Hyland, Lucy Conroy and Amy Flanagan also raising white flags.

Flanagan, O’Dea and Lowry also added goals as Laois romped to victory out west.
