The 60th National Steam Rally was launched on the picturesque grounds of Stradbally Woodlands Railway on the Cosby Estate.
The launch took place last weekend as the rally is set to take place on August 4 and 5.
The event which is organised by the Irish Steam Preservation Society and is set to be a thoroughly enjoyable event for all in attendance.
Nigel Glynn, the Chairperson of the Irish Steam Preservation Society addressed the steam enthusiasts at the launch as he emphasised the vital role the group plays in the community.
He said: “Ladies and Gentlemen, distinguished guests, and all our wonderful volunteers, thank you sincerely for taking the time and making the effort to be here today as we launch the 60th National Steam Rally here in Stradbally.
“The Irish Steam Preservation Society is dedicated to promoting the permanent preservation of steam-powered machines and related equipment, ensuring that future generations can learn about Ireland’s rich steam engine and vintage heritage.”
This year’s rally is set to be the major event on the Irish steam and rally calendar. As it celebrates its 60th year in operation.
The event will feature a wide range of entertainment including performances from artists Susanne McCann and Cliona Hogan among others. As well as a variety of food stalls and trade displays to cater to all tastes and interests.
Additional attractions set to be included are a pet farm, food tent, a craft village, a sawbench display, vintage cars and tractors, motorbikes, miniature steam engine displays, oil engines and much more to be announced.
Tickets for the event were released June 15 and are available at a 20% discount until June 29 which are available at www.irishsteam.net.
The event will also be supporting local charities such as Laois Hospice, Stradbally Meals On Wheels, Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, a charity that supports families of sick children.
