The GAA have confirmed that Laois will return to Croke Park this weekend, and what’s more, the game will be shown live on television.
The Laois senior footballers ended a two-decades long drought against Kildare on Sunday, a first championship win over the Lily Whites since 2005.
The win means Justin McNulty’s side are through to the Tailteann Cup semi-finals where they will take on Antrim.
The game will be shown live on RTÉ television, with throw in at 2pm on Sunday, June 23.
Laois and Antrim were the two beaten semi-finalists in last year’s Tailteann Cup, although Antrim put up a far better fight against Meath that Laois did against Down.
McNulty’s men will be looking to exercise those lingering demons when they once again face Ulster opposition in the biggest game of their season.
It will be a blockbuster day for football fans, with the other semi-final between Down and Sligo, also in Croke Park, to be shown on RTÉ at 4pm, hopefully following a Laois win.
These are rare times to have another Laois game live on TV from Croker, with the senior hurlers getting the same treatment in their McDonagh Cup final.
RTÉ will also be showing two big games on Saturday, with the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship quarter-finals down for decision.
First up is Dublin against Cork at 1.15pm, followed by Clare against Wexford at 3.15pm, with both games taking place in Semple Stadium in Thurles.
There had been a bid to flip these fixtures but that request by Wexford was rejected by the CCC.
