Thomas Charles (Charlie) Phelan
Abbeyleix, Laois / Westmeath

Formerly of Rahugh, Co. Westmeath. Peacefully while travelling under blue skies and sunshine between Kilkenny and Kildare. Deeply missed by all his loving family, especially his brother Eamonn, his nieces and nephews Margaret, Hughie, Edward and Catherine, his grandnieces and grandnephew Sophia-Kathleen, Kathleen, Rilee, Francesca and Oisin. He will greatly missed by all his friends and neighbours in Abbeyleix and surrounds as well as the many people who lives he touched throughout the years. We know that there are smiles waiting for you there as there are always smiles for you here.

Reposing at the Chapel of Rest adjoining the Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix, from 5.30pm. with prayers at 7pm.on Saturday. Requiem Mass on Sunday at 2pm in the Church of the Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix. Burial afterwards in Tyrrellspass Cemetery, Ballykilmore, Co. Westmeath.

James (Jim) Whelehan
Coolnabacca, Timahoe, Laois, R32 H2F6 / Ballybrittas, Laois

Timahoe and formerly Closeland, Ballybrittas.

Jim Passed away suddenly surrounded by his loving family. Jim will be greatly missed by his heart broken wife Catherine, his adoring children Lisa, James and Conor, son in law Alan, granddaughter Kate, James and Conor’s partners Aoife and Laura, brothers Paddy, Bernie, Dick, Tom, Frank, Martin, William, sisters Rose (Byrne) and Mary (Lawlor), brothers in-law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives neighbours and friends.

Jim will be reposing at his residence (R32 H2F6) on Friday from 4pm to 8pm with recital of the rosary at 8pm.

Reposing from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday evening with recital of the rosary at 8pm.

Removal from his residence by Whelehan Funeral Directors on Sunday afternoon at 1:15pm to arrive at Saint Michael’s Church, Timahoe (R32 X880) for 2pm requiem Mass. Interment to follow in Ratheniska Cemetery.

House private on Sunday morning please. Jim’s requiem mass and interment will be streamed.

Kathleen Smith (née Dunne)
Chapel Street, Clonaslee, Laois

Kathleen Smith (Nee Dunne) of Chapel Street, Clonaslee died peacefully on June 13th in the home of her son Eddie and daughter-in-law Rose.

Beloved wife of the late Edward (Ned).

Deeply regretted by Eddie & Rose and grandchildren Denise, Shane & Jake and their partners Ross, Emily, & Rory, Great grandchildren Hannah, Tommy and Brody, sister -in-law Nuala, nieces, nephews, neighbours, relatives and her many friends.

Reposing in 12 Hillside View, Clonaslee, Laois, R32 X3W4 on Friday 14th June from 2pm.

Removal at 6.15pm to St. Manmans Church via her home in Chapel Street arriving at 7pm.

Requiem Mass on Saturday at 11am.

Burial afterwards in St. Manmans Cemetery

James McGrath
Graiguecullen, Carlow / Graiguecullen, Laois

James McGrath of The Link Road, Aughoyne Cross, Ballyhide, Co. Carlow and formerly of Hanover and Pacelli Avenue, Graiguecullen, Carlow, passed away peacefully, on June 13th, 2024, at St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved husband of Maureen, much loved father of Linda, David and John, adored grandfather of Dale, Mark, Seán, Aoibhinn, Danny and Fionn and cherished brother of the late Johnny, Eileen and Ann.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law Marty, daughters-in-law Clare and Martina, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Carpenter Bros Funeral Home, Graiguecullen, Carlow, (Eircode R93 ET80) on Friday, June 14th, from 4pm to 8pm with Prayers at 6.30pm.

Removal on Saturday at 10.45am to St Clare’s Church, Graiguecullen, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in St Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.

Alzbeta Hriczkova
The Green, Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Laois

The death has occurred of Alzbeta Hriczkova. The Green Kilminchy. Portlaoise June 13th 2024 Peacefully surrounded by her loving family . Loving mother of Dionyz , Robert, Adriana and Alzbeta. Cherished grandmother and Great grandmother. Lovingly missed by her loving family. Neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Keegans funeral home Portlaoise on Friday evening from 5 pm until 6.30pm Removal on Saturday to SS Peter and Pauls church to arrive for 12 noon requiem mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Pauls cemetery Portlaoise. Mass may be viewed on www.portlaoiseparish.ie/webcam/

William Farrell
Bilboa, Carlow / Laois

William Farrell of Ardough, Bilboa, Carlow, passed away peacefully, on June 12th, 2024, at Waterford University Hospital.

Beloved brother of Bobby, Mary, Susan and Marie and beloved son of the late Andrew and Bridget.

He will be sadly missed by his loving brother, sisters, brothers-in-law Martin, Sean and John, sister-in-law Patricia, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Carpenter Bros Funeral Home, Shamrock Sq., Carlow, Eircode (R93 C863) on Friday, June 14th, from 3.30pm concluding with Prayers at 7pm that evening.

Funeral Mass on Saturday at 11am in The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mayo, Co. Laois (R93 HY94). Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Balladine, Abbeyleix, Laois

Suddenly at home. Deeply regretted by his loving Mum and Dad, (Tom and Vera), sisters Sheila and Fiona, brothers-in-law Kieran (Skip) and Tim, nieces Amy and Katy, nephew Thomas, aunts, uncles, cousins and a wide circle of friends .

Reposing in the Chapel of Rest adjoining Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Abbeyleix on Friday from 5pm with prayers at 7pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday at 10.30am in the Church of Holy Rosary with interment afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Abbeyleix.

Family request bright colours to be worn at Paul’s funeral.
