Laois learn their fate as draw for Tailteann Cup quarter finals made

The Laois senior footballers will be on the road this weekend as the draw for the quarter finals of the Tailteann Cup were made this morning.

Justin McNulty’s charges have been drawn away to Kildare in the last eight.

As Kildare don’t have a home due to the redevelopment of Newbridge, the game will probably take place in Carlow.

Laois began this competition in a group with Fermanagh, Wicklow and Carlow.

They drew with Carlow in Round 1 and then scored a crucial victory away to Wicklow in Round 3.

They lost to Fermanagh in the final game but Laois finished second after Wicklow defeated Carlow.

That secured a home preliminary quarter final for Laois where they hosted New York on Sunday.

This was an historic clash and Laois needed a Mark Timmons goal to get them over the line.

The Laois hurlers are due to host Wexford in the All-Ireland championship on Saturday.

So presumably, the footballers will be out on Sunday in order to avoid a clash.

The full draw is below:

TAILTEANN CUP QUARTER FINALS

  • Fermanagh v Antrim
  • Sligo v Limerick
  • Down v Wicklow
  • Kildare v Laois
