Fianna Fáil’s Paschal McEvoy has topped the poll in the Graiguecullen-Portarlington Municipal District.
The Stradbally-based candidate, who was born and raised in Timahoe, will be elected, but not on the first count.
Next in line is Aidan Mullins (Sinn Fein), followed by Ben Brennan (Independent), who was only nine votes behind.
Padraig Fleming (Fianna Fáil), Aisling Moran (Independent) and PJ Kelly (Fine Gael) are next in line and all on course to be re-elected.
PJ Kelly fell just short of 1,000 first preferences at 997, 181 votes ahead of his running mate Vivienne Phelan, which will be sufficient to see him hold on.
First-time Sinn Fein candidate Aaron Kelly polled 785 while Independent Ireland’s Patsy Fennell got 683.
19-year-old Fianna Fáil candidate Joey Kennedy got 578 ahead of Eoin Barry (Labour) on 506, a decline of exactly of 250 votes on what he got in 2019.
Charlie Hackett (Green Party) is bringing up the rear – and with no candidates being elected on the first count, he will be eliminated and his votes distributed.
The quota is 1,586 – meaning a number of counts will be needed before any candidate is officially elected. There were a total of 11,096 valid votes cast.
