You could have heard a pin drop in The Heritage in Killenard this week when the attendees at the Portarlington Further Education and Training Awards night were treated to a couple of outstanding musical performances.
Opening proceedings was solo singer Paula Hennessy from Stradbally, who performed her version of the iconic Cranberries song ‘Dreams’.
A powerful singer, Paula later rounded off the evening with a rendition of Natasha Bedingfield’s ‘Unwritten’. On both occasions she was accompanied by Jill McNamara on keyboard.
You can check out her performance of ‘Dreams’ below.
It was an evening that celebrated the achievements of students in Portarlington Further Education and heard various individual stories from adult learners – but it was also interspersed with a fashion show and a performance from the Laois Ukranian Choir.
They performed two songs – ‘Lovely Laois’ and ‘Sé mo laoch, mo ghile mear’.
And it was the ‘Sé mo laoch’, led by Janne Bondarenko, that was particularly impressive.
You can check out our video of that below.
