Transition Year students in Mountrath Community School enjoyed a trip to Italy to wrap up the year.
They were afforded the opportunity to see many landmarks in Italy’s north including Venice, Verona and Lake Garda.
In Venice they were given a boat tour of the historic city.
They then moved to solid ground and received a guided tour of some of the town’s landmarks such as St Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace and the bridge of Sighs.
The destination on Day 2 was Verona where the transition year’s visited the house of Juliet from Shakespears Romeo and Juliet.
Next they made their way to Verona arena, a coliseum that dates back as far as 30 AD.
They concluded the night with a very competitive game of bowling.
Friday was a day to remember as the students visited the world famous water park Gardaland.
After, they experienced all the attractions they dried off on the banks of Lake Garda in the sunny town of Sirmione.
Here the students experienced an unforgettable boat trip followed by lunch and more gelato.
As they travelled back to Milan for their flight home they stopped off for some shopping to stock up on some Italian souvenirs.
They returned to Mountrath in the early hours of the morning having made some unforgettable memories.
