Bike Week 2024, an annual celebration promoting the joys of cycling, took place throughout Ireland from May 11 to 19.
The theme – “Cycling is for Everyone” – emphasised inclusivity, with communities nationwide hosting events and activities throughout the week for all levels.
The people taking part ranged from the seasoned cyclists, to those dusting off the saddle, and even newcomers.
Bike week events were co-ordinated by Laois County Council and delivered by community organisations and schools collaboration with support and funding provided from TFI and Department of Transport.
Laois PPN held a ‘Pedal Vintage’ event during with Bike Week 2024.
Matt Doyle of Pedal Vintage Bike Hire in Durrow welcomed Laois PPN Community Member Groups from around Laois to a Laois PPN Pedal Vintage event. Matt provided Vintage-Style Bicycles and led the family friendly cycle through the Durrow Area.
Pedal Vintage is a Durrow Community Bike Hire Scheme initiative run by a voluntary group, on Chapel Street, Durrow.
They provide Vintage-Style Bikes and Helmets for hire; they will also provide guided cycle tours around Durrow.
Matt Doyle said: “Pedal Vintage were delighted to host Laois PPN on a leisurely spin in the Durrow area during Bike Week 2024 in Laois.
“We made great new friends on the occasion and the refreshments in Bob’s Bar afterwards were appreciated.”

“A great way to participate in Bike Week 2024 and promote Active Travel as part of our Climate Action Project.”
