The All Ireland of Irish restaurants awards took place recently where various Laois entities brought home numerous awards.
The event was held in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, on Monday night where almost 1,200 of the Irish hospitality industry’s owners, chefs, managers and staff gathered to crown the best establishments from across the country.
Kasia Urban, of Bramley’s in Abbeyleix, took home the Best Manager award for Leinster.
While Bowe’s Foodhall and Café, from Durrow, won the award for the Best Cafe in the same district.
Meanwhile the award for the Best Sustainable Practices in Leinster went to Mueller and O’Connell Bakery, Abbeyleix.
Nominations were made by the public through The Irish Times website and over the past few months regional events were made to determine the best establishments in Laois to send through to the competition.
This year’s annual awards were the 15th iteration and received over 160,000 public nominations for cafés, restaurants and other establishments from across the country.
President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Paul Lenehan, said: “During these undoubtedly tough times for our industry, celebrating Ireland’s food and hospitality offering is as crucial as ever.
“Above all, the Awards give us the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the hard work of Ireland’s talented restaurant, café and food-led hospitality staff.”
