Cumann Lar-Iománaithe na hEireann stage their Captains Prize in Rathdowney Golf Club tomorrow, Friday May 16.
Founded in the early 70’s, the Society has gone from strength to strength with an attendance in excess of 120 expected on the day
Participants include county hurlers, many of them household names, and provides an ideal opportunity to meet and test your skills against these former legends.
Stars such as Babs Keating, Noel Skehan, Richie Power, Billy Fitzpatrick, Denis Coughlan and Eamon Cregan to mention but a few.
From an early-stage ex Laois hurler’s have played an active role in this society and have also served, with distinction, as officers, most notably Larry Mahoney and John Taylor
This year John Delaney, a member of that great Laois team from the 80’s, was appointed Captain at the Society’s recent AGM, a huge honour and one John is looking forward to.
Since the foundation of the Society there can be little doubt but that it has delivered many hours of enjoyable golf to its members.
