Laois County Council have opened application for seven homes through the Affordable Purchase scheme in Portlaoise.

They will welcome applicants for the seven beautiful ‘A’ rated homes in An Lóchan, Portlaoise.

They are situated right in the heart of the town, close to all local amenities.

Applications can be made online from now until Friday, June 7 at 11am.

The Local Authority Affordable Purchase Scheme helps people on moderate incomes to buy new homes at reduced prices.

The local authority takes a percentage stake in the home that covers the reduction in price.

So if you buy the home at a 25% discount, the local authority will have a 25% stake in your home.

This stake must be repaid in 40 years or if you sell the home but can be paid back in full at any time.

To qualify for the scheme your income must be below a certain level.

Your gross annual income times four must be less than 85.5% of the open market value of the affordable loan.

Another way to meet the criteria is to have proof from a bank or financial institution that you cannot get a mortgage for 85.5% of the market value of the home.

An Lóchan is a new development of A rated, 3 & 4 bedroom homes. They are 7 minute drive from Portlaoise train station and have access to local bus routes 726/ 727/ 830.

The types of homes available in An Lóchan are pictured below and further information and inquiries can be accessed from the the agents for sale Knight Frank.
