Calling all dog lovers – a brand new ‘off leash’ dog park is set to open its doors outside Portlaoise this weekend.
Woofland Dog Park is currently the only multi–locational dog park in Ireland with another Woofland Dog Park located in Claremorris, Mayo.
Their newest location is outside Morette and those wishing to see it can get there by taking the R445 towards Emo until you come to a crossroads for Morette.
You take a right turn and Woofland is just 800m up the road on the right.
Woofland Dog Park is the creation of Eileen Taylor and her daughters Clare and Sarah.
They are from Aghagallon in Antrim and say they offer dog lovers a ‘new enclosed, off leash dog park providing fun, freedom, and security for all types of dogs, open every day from 9am to sunset’.
Eileen said: “Woofland Dog Park offers both private and social sessions which must be booked in advance through our website www.wooflanddogpark.com.
“Our purpose-built dog park is enclosed by 1.8m high wire fencing and a double gated entry system to give you peace of mind while your dog revels in their newfound freedom.
“Inside the dog park you will find lots of fun activities such as our handcrafted fun-agility course or our seasonal photo booths as well as a quirky shelter so you can enjoy the park no matter the weather.
“Poop bags and bins are also readily available to help everyone keep the park clean. There is no water supply on site, so we recommend you bring your own water.
“Whether your dog prefers solo adventures or enjoys making new friends, Woofland Dog Park is the ulti-mutt dog park for a tail-wagging good time.
“Our private sessions are great for nervous or reactive dogs, as you can enjoy exclusive use of Woofland dog park for 45 minutes with no other distractions nearby.
“Whilst our social sessions are a fantastic opportunity for dogs and owners alike to mingle, share experiences, and have a blast in a secure environment.
“Our social sessions are weather permitting and run during the Summer.”
The grand opening of Woofland Dog Park will be this Saturday, May 11.
Stradbally’s Fr David Vard has kindly agreed to bless the park and all the dogs who visit.
