SOLAS Garden Centre in Portarlington: Where community thrives and gardens flourish!

Last week SOLAS Portarlington hosted a spectacular car boot sale at their garden centre, drawing in over a thousand attendees.

Georgina Carey, the events manager, expressed her delight at the overwhelming turnout, highlighting the event’s growing popularity and the impressive variety of stalls.

With such success, anticipation is high for the next car boot sale on June 9.

Beyond the bustling car boot sale, the garden centre itself experienced its busiest weekend of the year. As gardening season hits its stride, visitors revelled in the vibrant displays and new arrivals of Buddleia, Irises, and Peonies, adding to the already stunning array of seasonal colours.

Chef Allan Hendry continues to dazzle patrons at the food court with culinary delights, from classic full Irish breakfasts to mouth-watering pancakes.

The food court has become a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike.

For those seeking a truly immersive experience, SOLAS offers much more than just shopping. Visitors can explore the expansive 5-acre complex, meet the resident chickens, and even sample fresh local milk.

Additionally, the in-house horticulturalist is on hand to provide expert gardening advice, making SOLAS the ultimate destination for a spring afternoon excursion.

Don’t miss out on the excitement at SOLAS Portarlington this weekend. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or simply looking for a fun day out, SOLAS offers something for everyone, promising a memorable and enriching experience.

Also, for your diary is the return of the SOLAS Farmers Market. Under the new format SOLAS will host a monthly food market where they plan to fill the container street with all your old favourites including local meat, fresh fish, organic veg, handmade treats and cakes, locally produced oils, spreads, chutneys and more.

Laois Taste will also be present at the next market set for Saturday, April 27 (The last Saturday of each month).
