Clonaslee St Stephen’s Day Walk volunteers presented their cheque to members of the Laois Hospice Foundation recently.
A total of €31,878 was presented by Sheila Bourke and Conny Dunne to Mary Delaney and Mary Finlay of the Laois Hospice Foundation.
Both parties were absolutely delighted with the excellent response and thanked everyone for their very generous donations.
Sheila Bourke, co-ordinator of the walk, thanked everyone involved for all their hard work in making the day such a wonderful success.
She also thanked all the sponsors for their continued support over the years.
She said: “We have completed our 31st year of walking and contributed over €1 million to Laois Hospice.”
Mary was delighted to accept the funds raised and thanked the people of Clonaslee for organising one of the biggest fund raisers yearly for Laois Hospice.
Mary outlined to the group the services provided by Laois Hospice.
Highlighting the knock-on effect Covid has had with late diagnosis, resulting in an increased need for palliative care and the how the cost of living crisis can have an effect on families going through treatment.
