Funeral details have been announced for Mark Walsh, the Portlaoise resident who died tragically on Monday of this week in a workplace accident in Kilbeggan in Westmeath.
Mr Walsh, who lived in Esker Hills in Portlaoise, was originally from Daingean in Offaly. He worked for a number of years as a very popular instructor in Portlaoise Leisure Centre prior to moving to work in the plant hire industry.
The family have deep roots in the Portlaoise community with his wife Clare a nurse in the town and his two young children, Fiadh and Daniel, in school locally and involved in a myriad of local activities.
Mark is survived by a large circle of family and friend. Loving husband to his heartbroken wife Clare (nee Slevin, Horseleap, Co. Westmeath). Devoted and adoring father to his cherished daughter Fiadh and son Daniel.
Dearly loved son to Donal and Clare and sister Emma. Mother in law Ann Slevin, brothers in law David, Hugo and Tore. Nephew (Colin) & niece (Isabelle), uncles, aunts, cousins, wider family and friends.
Also remembered by his co-workers and customers of Mill Road Plant Hire.
Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home, Portlaoise, on Thursday evening (18 April) from 5pm until 8pm, with rosary recital at 7.30pm.
Funeral on Friday, April 19, in SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise, for 12 noon Mass. Interment will follow immediately afterwards in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery Portlaoise.
