A place in the Leinster U-20 football championship semi final for the second year running is up for grabs for Laois this evening.
Kieran Kelly’s charges make the trip to Ashbourne to face Meath in what looks a very difficult assignment on paper.
Meath were crowned Leinster and All-Ireland minor football champions back in 2021 and this is now that team.
They were in a group containing Westmeath and Dublin. While they beat the former, they lost to Dublin which leaves them in this quarter final.
Laois come into the game with a 100% record. They defeated Carlow and Wexford in their first two games which secured progression from the group.
They then played Wicklow in their final game to see who would top it and they once again came out on top.
Many people were wondering why Laois were away to Meath despite them finishing first and The Royals second.
But Leinster underage have a home and away agreement in place and the last time Laois played Meath in a knock out game was in the 2019 semi final.
They won that by 1-13 to 0-7 in O’Moore Park and advanced to the final which they lost to Dublin.
The game throws in at 7.30pm and you can follow all of the action as it happens on our Live Blog.
