A Laois man has scooped third place at the 17th annual Mr Personality Festival, which took place in the Talbot Hotel Clonmel last week.
Michéal Kilheeney, a member of An Garda Síochána, was selected earlier this year to represent Laois at the much-loved Macra Festival.
25 contestants travelled from across the country to Clonmel for a fun-filled weekend where they culminating in on-stage interviews with MC Michelle Heffernan of Beat FM.
Mr Kilheeney, originally from Galway, entertained the audience with embarrassing stories as well as his hobbies and interests.
He displayed his musical talents for the judges, singing a few bars of one of his favourite songs.
The following morning saw Mr Kilheeney impress the judges during his private interview.
He took part in the jiving lesson where he was keen to improve his dancing skills for the evening’s entertainment.
Afterwards, the Garda proudly displayed his Laois colours while completing Team Building challenges with his fellow contestants.
Judges for the weekend were Liam Comerford (Former Mr Personality Festival Chairperson), Sarah McIntosh (Irish Country Living) and Martin Merrick (Irish Farmer’s Journal).
The result was announced at on Saturday night after a sold-out Banquet Dinner Dance with entertainment from Hypnotist Jason O’Callaghan and music by The Loose Cannons.
Mark Riordan (Kenmare Macra, Kerry) is the new Mr Personality for 2024, with Stephen Murray from Scotstown Macra (Monaghan) in second place.
Mr Kilheeny received a glass trophy and €200 as his reward for finishing third, as well as engraved cufflinks as a memento of the weekend.
