Laois County Council have announced their allocation of arts grants for the beginning of 2024, with a total of 25 groups and individuals receiving funding.
The total sum of the grant is €8,000 to be split across 18 groups, receiving a combined €5,450, and seven individuals, receiving a combined €2,550.
The 18 groups and their designated projects are as follows:
Mountrath Youth Theatre – €500
Hiring professional comedy facilities for comedy workshops.
Cruit Eireann – €450
Supporting artist’s fees for harp workshops.
OHR Dance Company – €450
Hosting a workshop.
Abbeyleix Bog – €400
Plein Air painting weekend with exhibition to follow.
Celtic-Con, Midlands Comic Convention – €400
Developing a series of events with one main comic convention.
Laura Murphy & Aos Si Collective – €400
Audio-visual poetry.
Portlaoise Tradfest – €300
Music workshops, session trails, battle of trad bands, pop up Gaeltacht.
Laois Writers Group – €300
Anthology of works from both current and previous members.
Fourth Wall Laois Theatre Group – €300
