Portlaoise Institute is delighted to offer students the opportunity to train as teachers in their new Pre-University Education and Training Level 5 further education course.
Students will delve into various educational systems, teaching practices, and key issues in education, gaining a broad understanding of the profession.
This course is aimed at students who want to pursue a career in Education, or students who are at present uncertain and want to test their compatibility to a teaching career before committing to a four-year degree programme.
One of the distinguishing features of this course is its emphasis on developing college-readiness skills. With a focus on academic writing, referencing, study skills, collaboration, presentation skills, and effective time management, students will be well-prepared to excel in a higher education environment.
Key modules include: Concepts in Education & Training, Interpersonal & Group Behaviour, Communications, Peer Mentoring, Work Experience, Psychology, Research & Study Skills and Word Processing.
