Current Tipperary senior footballer Emmet Moloney has transferred to Portlaoise ahead of the 2024 season.
From the Drom & Inch club, Moloney has played in the National Football League with Tipperary this year and played in Tipperary’s famous Munster football triumph in 2020.
A versatile player, Moloney has mostly played as a half-back or half-forward.
He’s also a former Tipperary minor hurler and played at full-back in the 2015 All Ireland final loss to Galway.
Moloney’s home club Drom & Inch have been a strong dual club in recent seasons – but opted to withdraw entirely from the Tipperary senior football championship this year.
Moloney previously had a transfer request to move to Clonmel Commercials turned down but with a Laois address, his transfer to Portlaoise has been granted and approved in the past week.
Meanwhile, a handful of other GAA transfers have also been rubber-stamped in recent weeks.
Former Laois player Conor Meredith has moved from O’Dempsey’s to the Naomh Eanna club in Wexford where he is now based while Dylan Flynn from Clonaslee-St Manman’s has moved to Wexford side Horeswood.
Clough-Ballacolla’s Robbie Phelan has also joined the strong Laois representation in Sydney by moving to Sydney Shamrocks while Ballylinan have been boosted by the return of Andy McEvoy from Canada where he had been playing with the Fraser Valley club.
Other inter-county transfers granted this month see Shane Dooner move from O’Dempsey’s to Owemore in Sligo and John Sherman go from Rathdowney-Errill to Tralee Parnells in Kerry.
