Three International Rules matches between Ireland and Australia will take place on Saturday and there will be Laois involvement in each of them.
This is the first time since 2019 that a Masters International game will be played.
Back then, Ireland got the better of Australia, and although Covid-19 halted further games, they are back on now.
The Over-50s game is up first and it will take place in Curry GAA club in Mayo at 12pm.
History will be made here as it is the first ever Over-50s final with Kilcavan’s Derek ‘Fresh’ O’Connell set to line out for Ireland.
Charlestown Sarsfields GAA club will be the venue for the final two games with the first starting at 2pm.
Again this is a historic occasion as it will be the first ever Ladies Masters International Test between Ireland and Australia.
There is double Laois representation here on both the management and playing side of things.
Mary Griffin (formerly Kirwan) will be looking to lead the Irish attack in the same way she has done for Shanahoe and Laois over the years.
While Kilcavan’s Eamon O’Brien, who previously played for the Laois Masters, is part of the management team.
That team is fronted by former Mayo LGFA manager and former Mayo GAA star Michael Moyles.
The final game on the day throws in at 4pm and sees Ireland and Australia meet in an Over-40s men’s game.
Once again we have Laois involvement with O’Dempsey’s Aidan McClernon set to be involved.
Two tests take place with all three teams competing in Denn, Cavan the following Saturday (March 16).
Saturday’s tests will not be live streamed but plans are in place to show the second tests on March 16.
Best of luck to all!
