History will be made on The Heath on March 17 this year when the local community there will hold its first ever St Patrick’s Day parade.
The initiative is part of the work being done by a newly-formed Health and Well Being committee that has been very active in recent weeks.
As well as a very successful Ireland Lights Up project where over 140 people registered and walked the new track at The Heath GAA grounds, the group also have set up an Active Retirement group that organises pilates, a weekly card night and have plans for a music session.
Courses and weekend trips are also on the horizon but at the moment the big focus is on the St Patrick’s Day parade, which will begin at the club GAA grounds at 8.45am on March 17 and march to mass for 9.30am.
Refreshments will follow in the church hall.
“We are reaching out to all local businesses, organisations and community groups to participate in this historic event,” say the organisers.
“To participate you will need to create/design your own banners, floats and signs to really stand out maybe add costumes and props to enhance the overall parade experience.
“This will be a great opportunity for our local community to come together.”
To confirm your business or group attendance, you can contact the organisers by emailing theheathparade@gmail.com or contact Samantha on 086 3667583 by Friday, March 1.
