‘The strength of our community lies in its shared love for animals’ – LSPCA call for urgent community support

The Laois Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LSPCA) are making an urgent call for community support following their temporary pausing of cat admissions.

“As we continue our commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our feline friends, we find ourselves facing a temporary challenge,” the Association said.

“Currently, we are at full capacity and regrettably, unable to accept any more cats or kittens into our care.

“We will continue to help the sick and injured cats or kittens where we can.”

The role of the LSPCA is to prevent cruelty to animals, promote animal welfare, pro-actively relieve animal suffering and rehoming lost or abandoned animals.

“In light of the recent surge in admissions, our current fosterers have gone above and beyond, generously opening their homes to more cats and kittens than ever before,” the Association said.

“We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for your selflessness, compassion, and tireless efforts in providing love and care to these animals.

“However, the strength of our community lies in its shared love for animals, and we believe that together, we can overcome this hurdle.”

Under the circumstances, the LSPCA are reaching out to the public to request assistance with fostering.

“If you have the ability to open your heart and home to a furry companion in need, even if only for a short time, it would make an immeasurable difference,” they said.

“Fostering not only provides a loving environment for our cats but also helps create space for us to continue rescuing and caring for those in desperate need.

“All vet’s bills, food and litter are covered by us.

“Please consider becoming a foster caregiver and be part of this vital support network and complete the following application.”
