Portlaoise Institute students recently completed a two-week work placement programme in Malaga, Spain through the Erasmus + Mobility Programme.
This initiative provided 25 students from courses such including Sports, Paramedics, Hair, Beauty, Digital Media, and Healthcare, with an invaluable opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture while gaining practical experience in their respective fields.
Under Portlaoise Institute’s Erasmus programme, students embarked on enriching work placements, where they were able to apply their skills and knowledge in real-world settings.
From assisting in local healthcare facilities to honing digital media skills in dynamic environments, each student had a unique and fulfilling experience tailored to their field of study.
The programme not only offered students a chance to expand their professional horizons but also provided them with a profound cultural exchange.
This included savouring the local cuisine, immersing themselves in the rich tapestry of culture and language and enjoying the city’s vibrant tourist attractions.
Principal Keith McClean said: “We are thrilled to see our students thrive in their Erasmus programme in Malaga, this experience has not only enhanced their academic and professional development but has also broadened their perspectives and enriched their personal growth.
“I would like to thank the teachers and staff who put a huge amount of time into organising this experience.”
