Much loved fairytale Cinderella has been announced as this year’s Mountmellick Macra Pantomime for later this month.
It will be staged for four nights from Thursday to Sunday, February 22 to 25.
Produced and directed by Brian Brady, the pantomime is an adaptation of the children’s much loved fairy tale with a few twists and turns along the way for audiences of all ages. Choreography by Louise Ahern.
The lead role of Cinderella will be shared by Amy Strong/Alanah Conroy.
Cinderella along with her best friend Buttons (Shannon Guilfoyle) are forced to stay at home and spend all day working for her Stepmother (Joanne Teehan) and her two Ugly Sisters (Michéal Kilheeney and Maryse Lennon).
Cinderella has a chance meeting with a handsome stranger Prince William (Adam Fitzpatrick) and his assistant Dandini (Conan Kirwan).
The prince falls in love with her in that instant and is anxious to meet her again. A ball is announced by Town Crier (Andrea Cashin).
Will Cinderella be allowed to go to the Ball, or will she forced to stay at home? Will her Fairy Godmother (Amy Strong/Alanah Conroy) intervene and work her magic along with the gormless duo of Smash (Robert Rowen) and Grab (Andrew Dunne).
While we mightn’t get all the answers, one thing is for sure when Smash & Grab are around, it can only mean chaos & confusion and a belly full of laughter.
This year a mix of new and familiar faces are taking to the stage along with a cast of 70 children from various schools in the locality.
In a change to previous years, the pantomime will start at an earlier time of 7.30pm sharp each night (Thursday – Saturday) with a matinee at 3.00pm, and 7.00pm on Sunday.
Tickets are €15 for adults, €10 for children and are available from O’Gormans Newsagents (cash only).
Family rates available on the door. There will also be a card facility for anyone wishing to pay by card on the night.
The main sponsor for this year’s pantomime is Mountmellick Credit Union.
